Best Time for Cenote Diving

Year-round perfect conditions in Mexico's underground wonderland

One of the best things about cenote diving in Mexico? The conditions are excellent year-round. Unlike ocean diving that can be affected by weather and seasons, cenotes maintain consistent temperatures and visibility regardless of what's happening above ground.

Year-Round Conditions

24°

Water Temperature

24-26°C (75-79°F) all year. Underground water maintains constant temperature regardless of season. Deep cenotes may have cooler thermoclines (22°C). Recommendation: 3mm wetsuit minimum, 5mm for deep dives.

100m

Visibility

30-100+ meters year-round. Filtered through limestone, cenote water offers some of the best visibility on Earth. Rain can temporarily reduce visibility in open air cenotes.

0

No Currents

Calm conditions always. Unlike ocean diving, cenotes have no currents or surge. Perfect for beginners and photography.

7+

Water Quality

Crystal-clear freshwater. Natural limestone filtration creates pristine water with neutral pH. Low mineral content makes cenotes gentle on skin and equipment.
