What Affects the Price?

01

Type of Dive

Reef dives are the most affordable. Cenote dives cost more due to entrance fees, specialized guides, and transportation. Bull shark dives require seasonal boat access.

02

Certification Level

A Discover Scuba experience is the cheapest option. Full SSI Open Water certification costs more because it includes multiple days of training, materials, and your internationally recognized certification card.

03

Group Size

Standard dives run in small groups (max 4–6 divers per guide). Private groups offer an exclusive guide and flexible scheduling at a 20–30% premium — worth it for families or special occasions.

04

Equipment

All equipment is always included at The Dive Machine — BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins, tanks, weights, and lights for cenotes. You never pay extra for gear, unlike some dive shops that charge separately.

What's Included in Every Dive

Every diving experience at The Dive Machine includes everything you need — no surprise charges, no add-ons, no "extras" at checkout. Here is exactly what is covered in your price:

  • Full Equipment: BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins, tanks, weights. For cenote dives: underwater lights and reels included.
  • Certified SSI Instructor: Every dive is led by a certified SSI instructor — not just a divemaster. Our team has thousands of logged dives in the Riviera Maya.
  • Small Groups: Maximum 4–6 divers per guide. You get personalized attention and a safer, more enjoyable experience.
  • Transportation: Roundtrip transport from our dive center in Playa del Carmen to all dive sites, including cenotes (30–90 min drive) and boat dives.
  • Insurance: Diving insurance is included for every participant on every dive.
  • Entrance Fees: Cenote entrance fees, marine park fees, and boat fees are all included. The price you see is the price you pay.
  • Drinking Water & Snacks: Bottled water and light snacks available on dive trips.

SSI Certification vs PADI

What Is SSI?

SSI (Scuba Schools International) is one of the world's largest dive training agencies, operating in over 150 countries with more than 3,500 dive centers worldwide. The Dive Machine is an SSI Instructor Training Center (ITC) — the highest level of SSI dive center, authorized to train instructors.

SSI certifications are internationally recognized — equivalent to PADI worldwide. Whether you dive in Thailand, Egypt, Australia, or the Maldives, your SSI card is accepted everywhere that accepts PADI. The training standards and depth limits are identical.

Why SSI at The Dive Machine?

  • Free digital materials: SSI provides all theory materials through a free app — no need to buy expensive textbooks like some other agencies require.
  • Lifetime digital card: Your certification is stored digitally forever in the SSI app. No need to carry a physical card.
  • Same recognition: Accepted at every dive center in the world that recognizes international certifications.
  • ITC quality guarantee: As an Instructor Training Center, The Dive Machine meets the highest standards of equipment, staff training, and safety protocols.
